Produce Specification: Introduction
When you have defined your needs you will have a clear understanding of the basic technical requirements of your project.
Before contacting a potential supplier(s) or installer(s) you will need to translate this into a specification that clearly defines the requirements and the objectives of your project.
A basic specification documentation is likely to include:
- A description of the project and its objectives
- A description of the technology and/or service that makes up the solution and description of any projects required.
- Required performance characteristics
- Service level requirements
- Operating and/or capital costs guidelines
- Timing for delivery, installation and commissioning.
You may also want to include consideration of other practical factors such as:
- Operational constraints that may need to be considered during installation and commissioning
- Any staff training requirements
- Coordination of activities with suppliers or related technologies subject to a separate tendering process.
