Find out where you can make savings

Making an assessment of how your business uses energy will help you understand where changes could be made - which can cut energy costs and reduce your carbon footprint.

The Carbon Trust provides a range of tools and products designed to help you do this.

Walk-round Survey
As a first step, take a walk-round survey of your business and talk to employees about some of their ideas for saving energy.

Action Plan Tool

To make sure you focus on the right areas for your business, use our Action Plan tool. Just enter your sector, company size and tell us how long you’ve been trying to save energy, and we’ll help you prioritise the key changes for your business.

Carbon Surveys
If your energy bill is over £50,000 per year, you may also benefit from one of our free carbon surveys. An Account Manager will discuss your needs with you, and may arrange for an expert consultant to come to your premises. They will help you calculate your carbon emissions and show you where you can save energy.

They'll give you a range of general tips on how to make an immediate impact, or provide more expert advice if you want to focus on a particular area. Our surveys have already helped thousands of companies identify energy savings of up to 20% and reduce their carbon footprint.

Design Advice - Building for the future
We will help you tackle climate change impacts from buildings by making the most of low carbon design and technologies. Plus we’ll make sure the building is economically carbon responsible from its concept design through to its final occupation.

Benchmarking tools
Online tools to help you compare your energy use with other similar organisations, for offices, industrial buildings, sports centres, civil estates and hospitality premises.

Contact us
You can also contact our experts for free advice on any aspect of energy saving. Our experts will answer simple requests for information, or detailed technical questions about particular technologies.
