Venture Capital 

The Carbon Trust, through its investments activity, finances emerging clean energy technology businesses that demonstrate commercial potential. Carbon Trust Investments Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Carbon Trust, makes early stage venture capital and seed investments to accelerate the commercialisation of clean energy businesses in the UK. 

It is a £46m fund, which it invests - leveraged with other private funding - into the UK’s clean energy technology industry.  CT Investment Partners LLP, our venture capital fund management associate, advises us on our investment activities.

 
 

We differ from other venture capital investors because we are:

  • the co-investor of choice - we are specialists in identifying and investing in early stage technologies
  • clean energy experts - we have in-house financial, technical, market and policy expertise
  • not just about profit - our focus is on reducing carbon emissions as well as earning financial return.

We will invest up to 50% in a transaction, typically between £250k - £4m. For more information please see Investment stage and size.
