Marine Energy Accelerator 

Wave and tidal stream energy has the potential to generate about 15% - 20% of the UK’s electricity demand from marine energy. Our Marine Energy Accelerator project funds 3 strands of work to make marine energy more cost-effective.
 
 

Introduction

The Marine Energy Accelerator is helping marine energy cost reduction through 3 distinct strands. There are currently no calls to action open and our funds have already been committed to these areas:
The Marine Energy Accelerator is investing up to £3.5m and operates until March 2010. During the accelerator, we are working with:
  • Device developers
  • Component technology manufacturers
  • Engineering consultants/contractors
  • Academic research groups
