Top 3 recommended carbon saving measures

  • Monitoring systems

Monitor the performance of your Combined Heat and Power (CHP) system to prove that you are saving energy and money. Building Energy Management Systems (BEMs) are ideal for this purpose.

  • Commissioning and testing

You need to make sure that the CHP system you commission will interact in the correct way with any existing heating system.
Also, make sure to test the system under a range of loads and in line with the manufacturer’s instructions.

  • Regular maintenance

This is essential to the cost-effectiveness of your CHP system – it keeps it running efficiently, minimising downtime and maximising your cost savings. To do this, establish a regular maintenance schedule – either with the equipment suppliers or your in–house maintenance team. This can range from routine scheduled maintenance only, up to a complete maintenance package that might include engine replacement and guaranteed levels of availability.
