Produce specification

When you engage a supplier, agree a detailed specification for the equipment/installation they are providing.
A basic specification document is likely to include:

  1. A description of the project and its objectives.
  2. A description of the technology and/or service that makes up the solution and description of any projects required.
  3. Required performance characteristics.
  4. Service level requirements.
  5. Operating and/or capital costs guidelines.
  6. Timing for delivery, installation and commissioning.

You may also want to include consideration of other practical factors such as:

  • Operational constraints that may need to be considered during installation and commissioning.
  • Any staff training requirements.
  • Coordination of activities with suppliers or related technologies subject to a separate tendering process.
