The Data centre collaboration aims to:
- Catalyse improved energy efficiency by developing greater levels of clarity and transparency within the industry and developing case studies to illustrate ways to overcome barriers to implementation.
- Develop a suite of advice and services to reduce data centre carbon emissions by promoting best practices for data centre energy efficiency and promoting use of appropriate tools and measures.
Data Centre Cost and Energy Simulator
Under the Low Carbon Collaboration programme and in conjunction with the British Computer Society (BCS), we have funded the development of Data Centre Cost and Energy Simulator software. The Simulator has grown out of three years of focused research and development and the large collective experience of the BCS Data Centre Specialist Group (DCSG) in analysing data centre energy efficiency.
With the launch of the Beta version of the software to BCS Data Centre Specialist Group members in late May 2009, we would like to invite interested organisations to work with us on driving development and adoption of best practice for the industry.
Who can participate? We want to work with organisations that can provide feedback on their experiences with significant data centre energy efficiency programmes. We are especially interested in developing case studies to capture experiences with the Data Centre Cost and Energy Simulator currently available to the members of BCS Data Centre Specialist Group for an initial six-month trial period.
Potential participants are invited to register their interest by filling out the form below. We will respond to all expressions of interest to determine the appropriate level of participation. We will only be able to work with a limited number of organisations during the development of this initiative.
