Boon & Sons
An interest-free Energy Efficiency Loan from the Carbon Trust allowed property management company Boon & Sons to turn the lights out without leaving their tenants in the dark – and save up to £3,600 on their annual energy costs.


Buxton Press
Based in Derbyshire, Buxton Press Limited is a specialist magazine printer employing around 100 people. The company, which operates from a fully refurbished and modernised 18th century factory, prints more than 41 million magazines per annum for 140 publishers throughout the UK.


Cavan Bakery
Until recently, the 80-year old bakery used ageing gas ovens that had been installed in the 1940s. Although the existing ovens were “massively inefficient”, according to MD Jeff Greenall, and required frequent maintenance, replacing them was an expensive proposition.


Coda Plastics
Coda Plastics, an organisation specialising in the injection and blow moulding of plastic packaging, was incurring energy bills of £180,000 per year, due to the energy intensive nature of their manufacturing processes.

Express Engineering
Express Engineering asked the Carbon Trust to carry out an on-site carbon survey to identify carbon and energy saving projects. The company then applied for two interest-free Energy Efficiency Loans to fund the installation of a new variable speed compressor, and a monitoring and control system for their heating.


Fox Wire
Thanks to an interest-free Energy Efficiency loan from the Carbon Trust, Fox Wire was able to install a variable speed air compressor to supply pneumatic power at its factory. The new device uses 30% less electricity, leading to predicted annual savings of over £6,500.

Following an on-site carbon survey on its premises by the Carbon Trust, Maxim Logistics Group Ltd used an Energy Efficiency Loan to install new energy saving lighting for its main warehouse. The changes have improved working conditions by making the warehouse brighter, while cutting the company’s annual energy bill by almost 41%.

Nursery retailer PreciousLittleOne was a little company with a big challenge. It needed an efficient heating system that would pay its way in the long term, without adding to its immediate financial burden. An interest-free Energy Efficiency Loan from the Carbon Trust proved the perfect solution, helping to deliver significant cost and carbon savings.


Precision Engineering Plastics
Founded in 1985, Precision Engineering Plastics (PEP) started life as a 2,000.sq.ft unit with a couple of machines for producing injection-moulded plastic components. Nearly 25 years later, the company employs 45 people in its 24,000.sq.ft factory in North London, which runs 24 hours a day, five days a week, and has an annual turnover of £4 million.


Roberts Mart
When Roberts Mart, Leeds-based printers of flexible packaging moved to new premises, two interest-free Energy Efficiency Loans helped the business make the site as efficient as possible, shrinking its energy bills by £129,000.


Serco
With three interest-free Energy Efficiency Loans in six months, West Midlands-based Serco Plastic Injection Moulders is rapidly replacing its legacy machines. As well as a 20%-30% increase in productivity, the company expects to see a £42,000 saving and a reduction of almost 260 tonnes of CO2.


Tayto Group
When Tayto, the UK’s third largest snack food manufacturer, changed their cooking method, it left them with waste cooking oil. They recycled it in a clever way – and now generate most of their electricity from old sunflower oil.


The Ivy House
The Ivy House is a grade II listed Freehouse Inn and Restaurant in Chalfont, St Giles and employs eight full-time and seventeen part-time staff. Its annual energy bills are more than £6,000.


The Swim School
Based in Chesterfield, The Swim School is a private swimming school run by Lynn and Glyn Booth. The school has been running for 10 years, providing one-to-one tuition and swimming classes for more than 800 children per week.


Toughglass
Kilkeel-based Toughglass produces 4,000 sq metres of glass a week, and, at £500,000 a year, energy was its biggest outlay after raw materials and wages.
