Reports to: Applications Manager
Purpose and scope of the role (to include management and budgetary responsibility):
To maximise the business value from our investment in specific business applications areas across the entire application lifecycle.
Main duties and responsibilities:
• For specific business applications: • Identify, measure, monitor and report on business value • Monitor, analyse and promote utilisation • Share best practice and organise/deliver user training as required • Develop and maintain expert knowledge of the use of the application along with associated documentation • Engage with user community and develop strong relationships • Establish roadmap and manage vendors • Chair the application user forum and improve communications • Facilitate new requests and helping prioritise requirements • Lead process improvements and application enhancements • Design and manage user acceptance tests • Assess impacts of business change
Key Performance Indicators:
• Feedback from users, suppliers and colleagues • User competency with selected business applications and understanding of business processes • Measured application utilisation and business value • Business process efficiency and efficacy
Key skills and competencies:
• Excellent abstract thinking, visualisation and business analysis skills • Excellent oral, presentation and written communications skills • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills • Excellent planning and organising skills • Strong knowledge of standard business processes and change management skills • Strong MS Office 2003 skills • Strong training skills and ability to conduct training needs analysis and train users accordingly • Good knowledge of relational database management systems • Good problem solving skills (comfortable with complex analysis) • Good knowledge of formal project management methods • Good ability to operate independently and on own initiative • Good knowledge of application design, development, testing, databases and architecture
Qualifications and experience (required/desired):
• Appropriate experience in a similar role (or in business analysis) • Appropriate experience of creating application documentation, user guides, e-learning content and training users • Appropriate experience of multi-user business applications • Appropriate experience of business process analysis, mapping and re-engineering • Evidence of the skills and experience listed above
