Web Manager, 6 month fixed term 

Manage the planning and implementation of the Carbon Trust’s web strategy, online projects and websites' continued developments.

Purpose and scope of the role

  • Manage the planning and implementation of the Carbon Trust’s web strategy, with a focus on integration of the Carbon trust’s websites into a consistent best practice web presence, including international and branded businesses.
  • Manage/oversee web projects implementation
  • Manage day-to-day relationship with web contractors and agencies 
  • Responsible for providing excellent customer experience to websites’ users (in terms of ease of access & navigation and quality of content)

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Overview and management of online activity, including subsidiary and international websites
  • Define integrated online strategy in line with business strategy
  • Help business areas define and prioritise online business requirements
  • Manage implementation of web projects to meet needs as appropriate.
  • Co-ordinate technical development and implementation through central process in conjunction with IT
  • Manage web team members as appropriate
  • Manage co-ordination of web content implementation
  • Support marketing managers in development of digital strategy and social media
  • Support CRM Manager in development of customer relationship interface
  • Identify digital opportunities: web, mobile and digital channels 
  • Online advisory role to Carbon Trust group (Carbon Label, CT Standard, enterprises)
  • Manage web delivery partner, digital and web agencies relationship and deliverables
  • Develop working processes with web contractors – (eg change requests, problem resolution, project management, reporting etc.)
  • Ensure that all processes, code and procedures related to web are documented and audited
  • Work in conjunction with IT to ensure web hardware and software solutions offer suitable support to business needs.
  • Analyse web usage data and recommend web enhancements accordingly
  • Provide periodic reports to senior CT management, directors, CT board and government
  • Act as the focal point for all matters pertaining to web
  • Management of Web editor and Web project manager

Qualifications and experience

  • Significant Web management experience, preferably in a b2b environment as owner of the websites
  • Experience of managing significant web development projects
  • Educated to degree level minimum
  • Experience of managing contractors required
  • Experience of working with senior managers and stakeholders
  • Experience of hands-on technical web development and design
  • Experience and understanding of Content Management Systems
  • Knowledge of rich media and new technologies – an advantage
