Web Master 

This role as part of the web team, is responsible for day to day website updates, online content production, dealing with bugs and issues, and providing web support to the business.

Purpose and scope of the role

This role as part of the web team, is responsible for day to day website updates,
online content production, dealing with bugs and issues, and providing web support to the business.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Website updates using Content Management System (MS sharePoint MOSS)
  • SEO and links management
  • Sourcing images, resizing and uploading onto relevant webpages
  • Flash banners creation
  • Providing web analytics reports and making changes based on the analysis
  • Helping business areas identify new content for website
  • Day to day web issues management (phone calls/ customer centre queries/ emails etc)
  • Basic bug fixing – liaison with IT / web agencies
  • Helping compile business periodic reports of online performance
  • Training departments’ editorial teams on updating the website using the CMS

 

This role will have specialist knowledge of the CMS: able to change / add to the system to create valuable functionality across Carbon Trust websites, for example:

  • Creating online forms, lists etc. 
  • Manipulating search to match best results  
  • Creating back-end profiles to customised content based on users behaviour
  • Specialist in the system - provide guidance and assistance to editorial teams and run training sessions

Key skills

  • Experience in editing webpages in Content Management System (MS CMS and MOSS experience advantageous)
  • Good HTML coding ability
  • Good Photoshop and Flash skills (including understanding of action scripts)
  • Understanding of rich media /video / streaming for web
  • Ability to manage own workload and timelines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good organizational skills and attention to details
  • Good understanding of business requirements
  • Good knowledge of web: platforms, usability, design, CMS, SEO, web stats and matrix.
  • Experience in web stats and analysis an advantage

Qualifications and experience

  • Educated to degree level minimum
  • Experience of working with stakeholders
  • Experience in working with / managing web agencies and in new media space
