The Carbon Trust provided expert consultancy on our business plans at just the right time, when we were looking to raise investment funds. Their support made a big difference
Stewart Little, Chief Executive, IRT Surveys
The challenge
IRT Surveys’ Chief Executive, Stewart Little, began his career as an architectural technician, before working as a sales representative for a roof waterproofing company. In order to demonstrate to customers that their roof was leaking, he had to cut into it to reveal pools of water.
Approach
IRT now runs three websites targeted at different markets, each of which enables users to commission pictures to be taken of their home or building, upload the results and download a quantified energy report. Professional surveyors are able to obtain cameras and licenses to use the software, allowing them to upload their own images before reporting the resulting analysis back to their clients.
Users include schools and supermarkets, as well as local community groups funded by utility companies, focusing on domestic buildings. Stewart has no doubt that interest will continue to grow.
Incubator scheme
The objective of the Carbon Trust Incubator is to help promising early stage UK companies achieve the ‘next big step’ in their development, by raising finance, securing licence deals or partnering with a major player in their market.
We work with companies that have developed innovative technologies and services that demonstrate exceptional commercial and carbon-saving potential, with a real appetite for high growth.
To do this, we deliver top-class consulting support, provide specialised training events and open doors to strategic partnerships across a wide range of technologies and markets.
