Part of the Whitbread brand 'Beefeater' the refurbishment of the Hogsmill Tavern was an ideal case study for the Low Carbon Building Acceleration programme. It allowed the Carbon Trust to take one part of a large organisation and show how incorporating low carbon technology during a refurbishment can deliver cost savings over the long term.
A vital part of the project has been the types of devices selected due to high turnover of staff within the hospitality industry, relying on staff to use carbon efficiently can be a difficult training load. So automating features to turn off when not in use, or timed switches which allow use to be scheduled around business hours is essential.
