Carbon Trust announces new dates for carbon footprint workshops

In response to growing business demand to take action on CO2 the Carbon Trust is rolling out a national series of carbon footprinting workshops for businesses of all sizes to act on CO2.

The Carbon Trust has an established programme of technical, energy management and footprinting training events which are held across the UK. These events are for businesses to attend and provide information on how companies can benefit from taking steps to reduce their carbon footprint.

The last series of carbon footprint workshops alone attracted over 1300 businesses that discovered how to measure and reduce their carbon footprints.  A new added incentive for businesses to attend the workshop programme is to learn how they can achieve the Carbon Trust Standard, the world’s first accreditation scheme linked to real carbon reduction.

As all the spring events were oversubscribed a further series is taking place through July with more planned for the autumn – at least 1000 further businesses of all sizes are expected to attend.

Joan Ruddock MP, Minister for Climate Change, Biodiversity and Waste said:
“It is inspiring to see so many businesses wanting to Act on CO2.  To combat climate change we need action on carbon reduction across the board - at our workplaces as well as in the home.  I urge more businesses to join this initiative and reap the environmental and financial benefits.”

Previous workshop participant Ian Thomas, Quality and Environment manager at Trueform Engineering Ltd commented:
“The clear format of the day and informative presentation at the Carbon Trust footprinting workshop gave me the necessary building blocks that I needed to understand my company’s carbon footprint. I went from zero knowledge to feeling confident and motivated enough to begin creating a realistic reporting process within Trueform Engineering.”

Hugh Jones, Solutions Director at the Carbon Trust said:
“Measuring and reducing their carbon footprints is an increasing priority for business and it’s the companies that factor in carbon reduction that will be successful.  In tougher economic times and rising energy prices it has never been so important to take action on your carbon emissions to gain the benefits for your bottom line - these workshops allow you to mix with over 100 fellow businesses in your region and give practical guidance how you can achieve real reductions.”
